U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg, R-
Bloomfield Township, joined the march
and called it "an appropriate stand of
the Jewish community on behalf of
Israel. People ought to know that there's
a strong position held by Jews in this
part of the country, particularly in
Michigan," he said.
Knollenberg called talk of a,ceasefire
"preliminary. I don't want to suggest
that this is an absolute mechanism
that will bring about the proper type of
ceasefire," he said.
"I'm hoping they can bring it about,
but I'm waiting',' he said. "The fact that
France is involved is of interest. I want
to make sure they stay in the saddle."
Rabbi Paul Yedwab of Temple Israel
in West Bloomfield said that it's won-
derful to see people come out to events
organized at the grassroots level on
short notice.
