Chaff Time from page 35 become a part of the JCC, and Lit believes this will make the JCC and staff "even more available." He said plans are under way to create year-round Maccabi and Junior Maccabi programs at the Center. Meanwhile, the Dr. Alan Horowitz JCC Maccabi Fund is being established. His family and the Maccabi Club will determine how the fund will be used, Lit said, but he assumed it will be for Maccabi scholarships to offset the cost of the Games. Detroit athletes are paying $1,350 to participate this year, partially because of the cost of airfare. For the first time, the Maccabi Club is chartering a plane to go to Vancouver. There are 111 athletes and coaches and 20 parents using the charter. Other costs include uniforms, and fees paid to the host commu- nities to offset the cost of athletic and social venues, game officials, lunches and transportation. Members of the host communi-. ties house the visiting athletes in their homes. PHOENIX, Aug. 6-11 Detroit delegation head: Karen Gordon.
