MARTIN NAIMARK, 92, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died July 24, 2006. He was born in Philadelphia and attended Temple University before moving to Detroit. He then graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School in 1937 and practiced in the Detroit area for more than 55 Naimark years. Dr. Naimark served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at San Antonio, Texas. While there, he found- ed the Jewish Guild at Lackland Air Force Base and received the Chaplains Award for fostering brotherhood. Dr. Naimark was active in all areas of dentistry, frequently serving in multiple capacities. He was a past president of the Detroit District Dental Society and served the Michigan Dental Association as trustee and vice president. The association recognized his efforts with a Meritorious Award and Dental Citizen of the Year Award because of his active interest and involvement with dental students. He was also active in the Alpha Omega dental fraternity, serving as the president of the Detroit chapter and regent of the Southeast Michigan area. He and his wife, Wilma, established the Parents Club of Alpha Omega, which focused on improving relation- ships between dental students, their parents and university faculty mem- bers. He was honored with the frater- nity's Meritorious Award in 1977. Dr. Naimark was a fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He was also a fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international dental honor society, and served as its president in 1992. He served on the Jewish Scholarship Committee of JVS for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Naimark; daughters and sons-in-law, Ronna and Tom Ortzman of Florida, Jill and Michael Kamps of Delaware; grandchildren, Jodi and Enrique Varela, Toni and Fred Quattrone, Michael Appelman, Elissa and Tony Scigliano, Jason and Victoria Appelman, Robin Ortzman; four great-grandchildren; brother, Norman Naimark of West Bloomfield.
