SAUL GAINES, 83, former Detroiter of Boynton Beach, Fla., died July 14, 2006. He was a graduate of Central High School, attended Wayne University and served as a radioman in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his discharge from the service, he embarked on a career in packaging and became one of the first in the United States to manufacturer plastic garbage bags. Mr. Gaines was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom from its inception until he retired to Florida in 1980. He was a member of the Oak Park Masonic Lodge for over 55 years and was a 32nd degree Mason. Mr. Gaines is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Adele; son, Robert Gaines of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughters and sons-in-law, Ferne and Andy Farkas of Plano, Texas, Joy Gaines-Friedler and Moti Friedler of Farmington Hills; grandchildren, Leah Farkas, Noah Farkas and his wife, Sarah, Daniel Farkas; sister, Jeanne Morrison of Margate, Fla.
