Kol Ami's New Cantor

School Registration

Temple Kol Ami has added Cantor Kat
Hastings to its staff. Hastings comes
to Metro Detroit from New York City,
where she was recently invested after
completing her training at the Hebrew
Union College-Jewish Institute of
Religion School of Sacred Music. She is
Temple Kol Ami's first cantor.
Temple Kol Ami's new officers are:
co-presidents, Mindi Silver-Weiss and
Terry Hollander; vice presidents, Bill
Faber, Karen Gutman and Howard
Katz; treasurer, Irving Yellin; secretary,
Debbie Himelhoch; past co-presidents,
Mel and Nena Chudnof.
Trustees include Chuck Freedman,
Andrew Gelsey, Bill Goldenberg, Paul
Gross, Laurie Kach, Debbie Lecours,
Amy Neistein, Ben Peven, Gail
Raben, Marc Rosen, Karee Strome,
Irene Swerdlow-Freed and Barbara
Vorenberg.

Registration is now open for the 2006-
2007 school year at the Congregation
Beth Shalom Religious School. The
school is open to the children of mem-
bers and non-members.
Registration and authorization forms
should be turned in as soon as possible

leader for the Kaballat Shabbat service

and Marsha Goldsmith Kamin will

Congregation T'chiyah members
meet and conduct weekly Shabbat
services in their sanctuary located
within the Mondry Building, 15000 W.
10 Mile Road, Oak Park.
Rabbi Edut was most recently a
student rabbi at Temple Israel in Bay
City and at Temple Benjamin in Mt.
Pleasant. She will continue to work as
a part-time rabbi for Temple Israel.
In addition, Rabbi Edut will lead a
discussion session on "Tisha b'Av —
A Day for Communal Reflection and
T'shuva" on Sunday, July 23, 3-4:30
p.m., also at the Mondry Building.

The community-wide Conservative
Tisha b'Av observance will be held at
Congregation Beth Ahm on Wednesday,
Aug. 2, at 8 p.m.
A component of the program will be
teenagers from the community who
have recently traveled to Israel; they
will share reflections from their trips.
Minchah times on Thursday, Aug.
3, will be: 2 p.m. at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek; 6 p.m. at Adat Shalom
Synagogue; 6:30 p.m. at Congregation
Beth Shalom; 7 p.m. at Congregation
Beth Ahm; 8:30 p.m. at Congregation
B'nai Moshe.

program gives
rabbis of all

Rabbi Rubenstein
an entire year
to study with

posed by contemporary American
Jewish life.
This one-year program combines
practical knowledge with ongoing
mentoring to build a bridge between
the spiritual and practical compo-
nents of rabbinic training.
