kitchen renovation, considered one of the toughest
to live through, was remarkably easy for Jody and
Shelly Mendelson when they contracted Gittleman
Construction Company to redo the heart of their home.
"It really was no big deal," said Shelly, "and I think that
was because there wasn't a time that I came into the
kitchen that things weren't moving along." A neat work
site, cleaned up daily, also eased the updating process.
The kitchen and accompanying powder room redo was
the couple's first major project in the four bedroom
Colonial they moved into 12 years ago. Only two
years old when they bought it, the house aged well but
recently "we had to make a decision — move or redo."
Happy with the neighborhood and their location, the
couple decided — call Gittleman.
'We had Scott come in and show us what we could do," recalls Shelly. That included replacing dated
laminate countertops and cabinetry with cherrywood and granite and putting color, granite and new
cabinetry into the powder room.
"I loved working with their designer," said Shelley. "She really helped me a lot, but she let me make
all my own decisions so I got what I really wanted."
Now the Mendelson's and their three daughters Melissa, Arielle and Erica take a break from their
busy schedules to share cooking duties in the state-of-the-art kitchen... and perhaps ponder future
renovations.
"There's more I would like to do," said Shelly. When she's ready, shE'd definitely call Gittleman.
So next time the prospect of an unsettling renovation puts a halt to your dream project, set your
worries aside and rely on Gittleman to get you through.
JUST ASK THE MENDELSON'S.

Fetter Research Complex at the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center
oseph and Frances Fetter of
Bloomfield Hills traveled to
Israel last month so he could
accept an honorary doctorate for his
lifelong support of Bar-Ilan University
in Ramat Gan. Les Goldstein, Midwest
executive director, served as the mas-
ter of ceremonies.
Fetter remembers being in the
presence of his late father-in-law Abe
Nusbaum in 1951 as he and a group
of other passionate young Zionists
established the foundation for Bar-
Ilan, which later would become Israel's
largest university.
The Fetters have taken part in every
important fundraising campaign with
the aim of expanding the institution's
teaching and research infrastructures.
They are members of the Presidential
Founders Society; they have estab-
lished a Psychodrama Therapy Clinic
j
run by the psychology department;
and, most recently, established the
Joseph and Frances Fetter Research
Complex as part of the Gonda
Multidisciplinary Brain Research
Center on campus, which has been in
operation since 2002.
This state-of-the-art labora-
tory cluster brings under one roof
researchers specializing in the vari-
ous disciplines of the brain and how
it works, taking up the entire second
floor of the building. There are six
scholars located on the floor, includ-
ing labs dedicated for neural imaging,
emotional processing and conscious-
ness and personality.
While on campus for the induction
ceremony of his doctorate, the Fetters
also celebrated the official dedication
of the Fetter Research Complex.
