Settling In from page 17
one to share Shabbat in the
heart of Israel.
Among us are 23 Israeli
teens from Detroit Federation's
Partnership 2000 region in the
Central Galilee who joined us
in Detroit last April. They were
waiting for us at the airport
when we arrived. I am room-
ing with one of them, Pnina
Yanihodege. Just like my being
in Israel on the Teen Mission
is a new experience for me, the
Shabbat service was a new expe-
rience for Pnina. She said, "The
services were different than any-
thing I ever experienced."
Together with the staff and
rabbis, the Friday night service
on the southern steps was not
only a fantastic way to begin our
journey, but paved the way for
sharing new experiences and
learning from each other.
