Nicole Lederman, daughter of

Bloomfield, participated in the
Michigan Youth Arts Festival in May
on the campus of Western Michigan
University in Kalamazoo. Lederman,
a student at West Bloomfield High
School, was selected for participation
in the honors orchestra as one of only
three clarinetists. She is a member of
the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and
a past participant of Interlochen Arts
Camp and the University of Michigan
All-State Orchestra and Band Program.

Dr. Mark Kolins of Bloomfield
Village, chief of the laboratories at
Beaumont Hospital Troy since 2000,
has become chairman of clinical
pathology at Beaumont Royal Oak
as well as medical director of the
Beaumont Reference Laboratory.
Here's To
Amy Herman of Beverly Hills, a
junior at Michigan State University,
won two awards at the opening
night of the 2006 Undergraduate
Exhibition for the Department of
Art and Art History at the Kresge
Art Museum in East Lansing. The
award recognized her excellence in
completed course work and her poten-
tial "for performing superbly in the
senior year." In addition to the 2006
Calder Scholarship, Herman won the
Kirshner
Huron High
School was
awarded the Ufer
Scholarship for
$4,000, a sports
and academic
scholarship at
the University
of Michigan.
Kirshner was
captain of
Huron's lacrosse
team.
Dr. Amy
Opperer of
Berkley accepted,
on behalf of her
research part-
ner and herself,
second place in
the Michigan
Osteopathic
Association
Scientific
Research
Competition, which was held in
conjunction with the MOA's annual
postgraduate convention and scientific
seminar in Dearborn. Opperer is a
resident at St. John Oakland Hospital.
