YOU'VE ALWAYS ANTICIPATED
EACH OTHER'S NFEDS.

MICHAEL BROOKS, 6L died
June 6, 2006. He was born in
Detroit, graduated from Oak Park
High School in 1962 and entered
Michigan State
University, gradu-
ating in 1966
with a degree
in journalism.
Two years later,
he was inducted
into the United
Brooks
States Army
and stationed in
Germany. Upon returning to civil-
ian life, he moved to the Bay Area
in 1970. He attended Golden Gate
University to study law, earning his
California State Bar degree in 1976.
He was an avid collector of
antiques, a lawyer and a journalist.
He worked as a reporter at various
papers in Michigan and California
and authored two books and
numerous articles for publications
on antiques. His collection of Statue
of Liberty memorabilia, including
an invitation to Liberty's opening,
earned him the attention of the
Wall Street Journal and several
television shows. He also enjoyed
collecting antique typewriters and
old transistor radios.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed
music and loved sports. A track-
and-field enthusiast, he ran in
several marathons and could often
be found on local golf courses fine-
tuning his game.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his
mother, Clara Brooks of West
Bloomfield; his wife of 26 years,
Deborah; daughter, Jessica, 23; sons,
Josh, 19, and Adam, 16; sisters,
Lynn Dils and her husband, Jeffrey,
of Chelsea, Jacqueline Berger and
her husband, Paul, of Lake Island,
Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins. He was the son of the late
William S. Brooks.
A private memorial service will
take place on Friday, June 16, 2006.
