Blessed
Marta Kauffman, famous as the
co-creator of the TV series Friends, is
co-producing Blessed Is the
Match: The Life and Death of
Hannah Senesh.
This feature documentary
profiles the life of Hannah
Senesh, the famous Jewish
poet and diarist who left
Palestine and parachuted
Hannah Senesh
into Hungary during World
War II to try and rescue Jews from the
Holocaust. Senesh, who is a national hero
in Israel, was captured, tortured and
executed.
The filmmakers have been granted
unprecedented access to the Senesh family
archives, and they will film in Israel and
Hungary this fall. They plan to release the
documentary to theaters in 2007 and to
have it broadcast on public television early
in 2008.

25. Yes, Scott modestly told a reporter
that he's "an un-athletic Jewish kid" who
had to train hard to play a top gymnast
in Warrior. The truth is
Scott was buff before
getting this role, and he
has the looks to be a
movie leading man.
The film is based on a
quasi-autobiography by
Dan Millman, a top
Scott Mechlowicz Jewish college gymnast
in the 1960s who is now
a sort of New Age human-potential guru.
Mechlowicz plays Millman, and Warrior has
novelty value as the first major motion
picture in which a Jewish actor stars as a
real-life Jewish athlete.
