An Old Pal

I

Estelle Golomb is seeking an old
friend who made her way from
England to the Detroit area.
"Jaqueline Falk, or Jaqui, as I knew
her, was born in Liverpool:' said

during the Blitz; the experiences
of children, non-Jews, whose
families rescued Jews in Europe;
children sent to Siberia; stories of
Jewish children who, along with
their families, fled to Shanghai
and Palestine.
Wright began the oral history
project a few years ago when
her children, now 18 and 15,
could not comprehend, and were
not interested in, the harrow-
ing events of World War TI. She
decided the best way to make
history come to life is to reach
children through their peers,
Because Wright's oral history
is a labor of love, and is being
financed through her limited per-
sonal resources, she is also look-
ing for sponsors who will help
• her financially in her efforts to
gather these vital stories before
they are lost forever.
She can be reached through
BookmarkServices.net, a compa-
ny that combines her passion for
stories with her skills as a coach
and editor.

story development editor

Golomb, who still lives in England.
•
"Her parents divorced and her mother
remarried and moved to Detroit."
Jaqui moved back to Liverpool to
live with her father and step-family.
But in 1967 she joined her mother in
Michigan, living in or near Dearborn.
Golomb recalls that, when they
were last in touch some 40 years ago,
Jaqui had a boyfriend named Evan
who was in the armed forces. She also
remembers that JaquA mom had a
nickname: Peachy.
During a short stay in Detroit, by
Golomb and her husband Gerald in
the late 1960s, she said, "Jaqui and her
mother were wonderful to me. When
I returned to England, I came to write
to Jaqui and couldn't find her address
and her father had left Liverpool. I
have felt extremely guilty and have
tried numerous ways to get back in
touch. I would just love to get in touch
with her again."
Anyone with information on Jaqui
Falk can contact Shelli Dorfman, sdor-
fman@thejewishnews.com or (248)
351-5141.
