Alissa Kerner, daughter of Drs.
Genise and Nathan Kerner of Orchard
Lake and a West Bloomfield High
School graduate in 2003, was recently
elected to the. National Collegiate-
Scholarship Society. She is a junior at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
in Cambridge, Mass., studying chemi-
cal/biomedical engineering. This
academic national society requires
outstanding academic performance
throughout the college years. Kerner
is studying abroad at Cambridge
University in England for the year.
Ben Iwrey of Farmington Hills,
son of Les and Bob Iwrey, has been
selected as the new drum major of
the University of Michigan Marching
Band for the 2006/2007 football sea-
son. He is a 2003 North Farmington
High School graduate who has been
playing clarinet since elementary
school and has participated in many
high school bands, including the
marching band at North Farmington.
Jackie Gill of Southfield was present-
ed with an award by the Southfield
Board of Education's Partnership for
Education at the annual breakfast.
The Award of Excellence recognized
Gill's contributions to the school dis-
trict through his tutoring upper level
mathematics at Southfield-Lathrup
for 12 years.
