QUESTIONS

Who's thinking what — and why?

1

WHAT BOOK, CD, MOVIE OR OTHER MEDIA
DO YOU LONG TO SHARE WITH OTHERS?
The Rebbe's Army by Sue Fishkoff. The
author was intrigued by the thousands of families
who heeded the call from the Lubavitcher Rebbe
to go out to all corners of the world and spread
the message of Judaism. The Lubavitcher Rebbe
taught us that every Jew is precious and deserves
unconditional love. I feel very privileged to have
been raised my whole life with this ideal. As part
of her research, she interviewed several emissar-
ies including my husband and me. This is a book
that describes the Rebbe's work and impact on the
world, and by extension my life, why I am who I
am and why I do what I do. If someone wants to
get an idea of what my passion really is, this book
does a pretty good job of telling it.

danger to herself was incredible. And she carried
everything out with grace and charm. When my
mother was a teenager, she was able to spend the
night with the Rebbetzen when the women in
the Lubavitch community took turns keeping her
company. I guess you could say I am a bit envious
of that opportunity.

3

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE JEWISH FORD?
Challah. Who would think that baking
challah would substitute as relaxation thera-
py, frustration release, add so much to our Shabbat
dinner table and be such an important mitzvah for
women? I also love macaroni and cheese right after
Pesach. Is that a Jewish food?

2

IF YOU COULD HAVE BRUNCH WITH ONE
BIBLICAL DR HISTORICAL JEWISH
FIGURE, WHO WOULD IT BE?
Rebbetzen Chana, the Lubavitcher Rebbe's moth-
er. I was always intrigued by her self-sacrifice and
the love she had for her husband and children. Her
determination to carry out what was needed for
the ultimate goal of the advancement of Judaism
regardless of the inconvenience, difficulty or even

WHAT WOULD PEOPLE BE SURPRISED TO
KNOW ABOUT YOU?
When I was younger, I was always the
one who wanted to take risks and take part in
dangerous activities. I climbed on the glaciers in
Alaska, rode on the craziest roller coasters, chose
parasailing over simple paddle boating and always
dreamed of bungee jumping. Now that I'm a
mother of five children, though, that dream will
stay on the back burner. ❑
