Ten years later, she resumed her career and collected and per- formed diverse folk songs as she traveled. Songs of Israel and Jews were joined with songs from other nations. "I returned to the stage in 1989 and have been traveling around the world ever since," says Nathan, who is now separated from her husband. "From time to time, I write my own music. I have taught all my children to play guitar and sing, but they have chosen other types of work." Nathan's recordings include Beloved Songs, Songs of Praise, Open Roads and Mostly Carlebach, with "Jerusalem of Gold" part of the first recording. When she presents these songs in concert, her shows often turn into spontaneous sing- alongs. The singer-guitarist plans on including old and new songs, prayers , Rey' Amtbbilita and even Jewish opera as she enter- tains in Michigan. It has been some time since she has been in this state. "I travel to the United States about twice a year," says Nathan, who attends services at a Conservative synagogue and tries not to worry about potential acts of violence in her country. "I enjoy touring, and I love performing in America. "When I'm not working, I like to study all kinds of subjects, including history and philosophy, and swim for exercise. I'm glad when I can be busy with my family, which now includes grandchildren." I , . , . - . . , ,. . , •. :.•.._ ::"... - . f....,..r...r. '•• .. .. ,n• . W. .,. "' .. •'' .
