Cantor Dubov
Cantor To Depart
After four years as spiritual leader
of Congregation Chaye Olam, the
Bloomfield Township synagogue's
founder, Cantor Stephen Dubov, has
taken a new post.
On July 1, he will begin his posi-
tion as cantor at Temple Beth El
in Boca Raton, Fla., a 1,500-family
Reform congregation.
With no rabbi at Chaye Olam
— and with the synagogue build-
ing up for sale — there is much
dialogue and decision making
pending for members.
"Discussion is still ongoing as
to the future of the synagogue
Cantor Dubov said. "It is my hope
for Chaye Olam to remain a strong
and viable congregation. The Union
for Reform Judaism (in New York),
of which Chaye Olam is a member,
is involved in helping to move the
congregation to whatever the next
phase will be."
Answering
Israel's Critics
The Charge:
Israel has approved the dese-
cration of a Muslim cemetery in

The Answer:
If Israel has nuclear weapons, they
are meant not as a threat, but to
deter hostile enemies such as Iran,
which last week threatened to attack
Israel if the U.S. commits an 'evil act`
against the Persian nation.
