To Life! ON THE COVER • Race for Hunger participants keep up the pace for a good cause. Harry Kirsbaum Staff Writer T he weather was perfect and the bagels were fresh as almost 200 people ran, walked, and dashed through the Oakland Community College's Orchard Ridge campus in Farmington Hills May 7 for a worthy cause. A crowd of 308 registered for the first annual JNCarathon Race for Hunger, which raised money for the Berkley-based Yad Ezra kosher food pantry and the Detroit-based Gleaner's Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. Running Fit and its CEO Randy Step set the course and kept times. Sponsors included Oakland A Communication Partner, Tapper's, Noodles & Co. Asics, Running Fit, Rock Financial and the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit.
