The service begins witha D'var Torah by Ronit Goutkovitch, followed
by a 60 minute meditation and "asana" practice led by Registered

Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to sit or lie on the floor as
well as enter the sancturay to join in the concluding Shabbat prayers
with the congregation.

Soloist Gives Recital

Aleksandra Dubov, 21-year-old
daughter of Congregation Chaye
Olam's spiritual leader, Cantor Stephen
Dubov, and the synagogue's educa-
tion director, Christine Dubov, will
be headed to Vienna, Austria, this
fall to study opera. She will spend a
semester of her senior year in college
as an exchange student from Indiana
University's School of Music.
As a prelude to her trip, she will
present a Mother's Day recital, "A
Night in Vienna," 7 p.m. Sunday, May
14, at Congregation Chaye Olam:
Advance reservations are required.

Temple Israel's Couples Club will host
"Take the Ride of Your Life" with pro-
fessional speaker, author and motiva-
tional consultant Joyce Weiss.
On Sunday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m.,
Weiss will speak at Temple Israel dur-
ing a brunch. She will teach partici-
pants how to put more joy and fun in
their work life, as well as in personal
lives and relationships.

On Saturday, May 6, Congregation
Beth Ahm will hold an open house for
prospective religious school students
and-their families.
Classes begin at 9:30 a.m., followed
by Junior Congregation from 10:30 to
noon. Families are welcome to join in
for any portion of the day. An addi-
tional open house will be held 4:30-
6:30 p.m Tuesday, May 9.

Liturgical Harmony

Gospel music and Jewish liturgical
songs will be heard in "Together in
Peifect Harmony," at 8 p.m. Saturday,
May 6, at Congregation Chaye Olam.
The *concert will also feature con-
temporary melodies, Broadway show
tunes and other musical genres.
Cantor Stephen Dubov, spiritual
leader of Congregation Chaye Olam,
and Yvonne Moore Fant, a chaplain
and the program coordinator for
Project Compassion Ministries in
Detroit, will perform.
Tickets are $18 per person, and
advanced reservations are required.

JTS Chancellor Speaks

Dr. Ismar Schorsch will be the keynote
speaker at the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America dinner to be
held at Congregation B'nai Moshe on
Monday, May 8. Dr. Schorsch will step
down as chancellor in June, having
served for 20 years.
Local leaders will be honored at
the dinner with JTS' Shin Award for
service to the Conservative movement
and the Jewish community.
Accompanying
Schorsch will be
Professor Arnold
Eisen, chancel-
lor designate. Dr.
Eisen is Koshland
Professor of
Jewish Culture and
Schorsch
Religion and chair
of the Department
of Religious Studies at Stanford
University. Eisen will serve as chancel-
lor-elect starting July 1.
This year's dinner chairs are Norma
Dorman, Ellyce Fields, Marc Sussman
and Steven and Lori Weisberg. For

The Lie That Wouldn't Die

"The 'Jewish Conspiracy: Israel, the
World, and the Persistence of The
Protocols of the Elders of Zion" is the
topic of a talk to be given by Judge
Hadassa Ben-Itto, on Thursday, May
11, at Temple Shir Shalom.
The program, part of B'nai B'rith's
Enlighten America project dedicated to
fighting bigotry and hate and promot-
ing understanding and cooperation, is
free and open to the public.
Ben-Itto is a Holocaust survivor.
