you may have recently
read, a Columbia Uni-
versity Medical Center study of
2000+ New Yorkers suggests that
adherence to a so-called, "Medi-
terranean" diet, may significantly
reduce the risk of developing
Alzheimer's Disease.

4-- A Mediterranean diet, typi-
cally, consists of fish, fruits,
nuts, vegetables, cereal
grains, legumes, mono-
unsaturated fats such as
those found in olive oil,
and low to moderate con-
sumption of red wine,
but is notably low in red
meat and dairy products.

Prior to the Columbia
University study, the
benefits of a Mediterranean
diet had been primarily associated
with good heart health – thought
by some to be attributable to the
naturally lower level of saturated
fat found in the Mediterranean diet
(i.e., when compared to a typical
American diet).
Ann Arbor
Other very recent research (at
MIT) suggests that omega-3 fatty
acids (found in the Mediterranean
diet) may have an important role
to play in delaying the cognitive
decline brought on by Alzheimer's.
I hope you find this helpful.
