Margolis Revealed
Cindy Margolis, the famous
Internet pin-up girl and recent win-
ner of NBC's Celebrity Cooking
Showdown, has agreed to do her
first nude photo shoot ever — for
Playboy magazine.
She explained
she turned down
Playboy in the

this offer because
she felt posing

with locations in California and
Florida. The chain was founded by
Guy's father, Ike Starkman, a vet-
eran of the Israeli army.

that, in the 1930s, Frida Kahlo herself
may have started the story that her
father was Jewish. Kahlo moved in left-

were associated with Nazism.

The incredible success of Internet
search engine Google has turned its
two founders-owners into multibil-
lionaires.
The Jewish background of co-found-
er Sergey Brin, 33, has often been
noted in the press. His Jewish parents,
both scientists, fled Russia to escape
anti-Semitism.
A recent corporate history, The
Google Story by David Vise, sheds light
on the Jewish background of 33-year-
old co-founder Larry Page, who was
born and raised in East Lansing.
Page's non-Jewish father, Carl, and
his Jewish mother, Gloria, taught com-
puter programming at Michigan State
University. Vise describes Carl Page as "a
lifelong Democrat, preaching the gospel
of education and opportunity for all?'

Out Of The Tribe
Most people have heard of the
Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, whose
life was the subject of the big 2002
movie Frida. She has always been
among the most exotic of famous
persons with a Jewish background
— most biogra-
phies state she was
the daughter of a
Hungarian Jewish
father and a non-
Jewish mother.
Well, scratch
Kahlo. The
Frida Kahlo
Jerusalem Post
reports that a new
biography presents unimpeachable
evidence that Kahlo's father was
Sergey Brin and Larry Page
in the famous sit-down strike at the GM
plant in Flint in 1937-38.
Larry Page's maternal grandfather,
a tool-and-die maker, moved to Israel
and was an early settler in the Israeli
desert town of Arad. He is buried in
ISrael.
Vise says that Larry Page was raised
without religion or a strong Jewish
ethnic identity. Nonetheless, the book
opens with Brin and Page visiting
Israel in 2003 and engaging in an
almost joyous give-and-take with top
Israeli high-school students.
Google has strong ties to Israel. It
has a local sales force and recently
announced it would build a major
research center in Israel. Meir Brand,
the head of Google Israel says: "It's an
open secret that Googles owners are
very interested in Israel. They have
widespread ties with a great many
people [here]."1 I
