HELEN AUGUST, 102, of
Farmington Hills, died May 1, 2006.
She was active in many charitable and
philanthropic organizations. At age 98,
the Detroit native received a Lifetime
Achievement Award from the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
Mrs. August is survived by her
son and daughter-in-law, James and
Doris; grandchilden, Amy and Randy
Sternberg, John Saidman, Larry
and Julie August, Andy and Barbara
August, Tom Auiust; great-grand-
daughters. Melanie, Allison, Maddy
and Talia August; Marla and Leah
Sternberg.
Services at Kaufman Chapel.

HERMAN BERKE, 88, of Beverly
Hills, died April 29, 2006.
He is survived by his daughters
and sons-in-law, Ronna and. Stuart
Kessler of. Farmington Hills, Susan
and Thomas Patty of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Jeffrey (fiancee Kerry
Foley) Kessler, Lisa Kessler, Tom
(Karin) Patty and Sandra Patty; great-
grandchildren, Teresa and Lilly. He
was the beloved husband of the late
Sara Berke; brother of the late Bertha
Berkowitz.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may
