MAURICE BECKERMAN, 90, former
Detroiter of California, died March 29,
2006. He worked with his brothers for
over 30 years in their family business,
New Way Housewares located in Oak
Park. After retiring in 1979, he and his
wife settled in San Diego, where his
family followed.
He is survived
by his two daugh-
ters, Fran Greene
and Marsha

son-in-law, Steve

Palm Beach, Fla. He was the beloved
husband for 50 years of the late Tillie

STANLEY RUSSELL
BORENSTEIN, 80, of Ann Arbor,
died April 11, 2006. An educator,
social worker and union activist, he
received his bachelor's degree from
Suffolk University in Boston and
his master's in psychology from the
University of Colorado. A Navy veteran
during World War II, he served in the
Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Borenstein is survived by his
children, Joseph Borenstein and
Joyce Chang of San Bruno, Calif.,
Nathaniel and Trina Borenstein of
Ann Arbor, Seth Borenstein and Anne
Marie Reidy of Kingston, Md., Eliot
Borenstein and Fran Bernstein of New
York City; grandchildren, Jason and
Holly Borenstein, Barbara and Carey
Valentine, Shana, Leah and Miriam
Borenstein, Gettye Goins, Donald,
Teddy and Patrick Borenstein, Lev and
Louis Bernstein; great-grandchildren,
Andrew and Benjamin Borenstein,
Jessica and Samantha Valentine; sister
and brother-in-law, Elinor and Tom
Bull of New Bern, N.C. He was the
beloved husband of the late Deborah
Borenstein.
