They picked out their perfect location. They
I chose the neighborhood they loved. And now,
thanks to Gittleman Construction Company, the
family home of Audrey and Brian Klayman "is
warm and comfy, a cozy house with all the room
we need," says Audrey.
"We are very comfortable now," echoes Brian. "We
are going to be here a long time."
Although their Colonial had enough bedrooms to
accommodate their growing brood, they decided it
needed something more. They made plans,
gathered bids and chose the company with a great
reputation and the best price—Gittleman.
"He (Scott Gittleman) was right where our budget
needed him to be," said Brian.
Now, Hannah, 10, Becca, 7, and 5-year-old Drew enjoy the added space of a second floor
addition. Drew's got a new bedroom and private bath. All the family uses the new work out
room and everyone gathers in the spacious loft area to watch TV, use the computer or just
kick back and relax.
"That loft is the best thing we ever did," said Brian. Audrey thinks it's great, too, but her
personal favorite is the new downstairs mud room where the installation of lockers gives
"everyone their own space...and they use it."
That helps keep the house in order which, in turn, makes more room, she surmises. Adds
Brian, "people underestimate the power of cabinet space."
So next time you want to get more out of the place you love to live in, you could spend time
shopping around or you could get the best at a price you can afford by calling Gittleman first.
JUST ASK THE KLAYMAN'S.

Stop Illegals
Congratulations to George Cantor
who in his "Bordering On Disorder"
column (April 6, page 23) has brought
much-needed attention to the illegal
immigration crisis. America has every
right to protect and secure its borders,
and it is the constitutional duty of our
government to do so.
The majority of our elected officials
apparently think otherwise since they
fail to enforce our existing immigra-
tion laws. They then propose new laws
that, under the guise of being a guest
worker program, actually give eventual
amnesty to those lawbreakers while
legal immigrant applicants must wait
years.
We must use every means to stop
this invasion, including a fence as was
built in Israel. Statistics show within
40 years our population will increase
to half a billion. Babies born from
these lawbreakers become automatic
citizens with the right to bring in
additional members.
Under the Constitution, those who
smuggle themselves across our bor-
ders have broken our immigration
laws and must be held accountable.
Employers of these lawbreakers also
are breaking the law. Harsh punish-
ment, including prison time, would
stop this cycle. Without jobs, the ille-
gals would have to return home.
The Number 1 priority of our
Congress must be to immediately stop
this invasion.

Investing In Our Future
I want to congratulate the Jewish
Federation and Shalom Street and the
wonderful teachers, volunteers and the
Bloom family, all of whom made the
Matzah Factory possible. The Gan
Shalom Parenting Center appreciates
when the Jewish community offers
education to our young children and
families.
Children and their families are the
foundation and the future of Judaism.
Yet, in this economy, how do children
attend a good Jewish preschool when
young parents are struggling with
their finances? We know from research
in brain development that children
can learn and retain much new infor-
mation under the age of 4. Jewish edu-
cation should begin in preschool.
Learning Hebrew should begin in
preschool. We also know that families
are more involved in Jewish activities
when their child is in a preschool that
has Passover University, seders, etc.
Yet, we as a community are forcing
many Jewish families to attend public
and even church preschools and day
care.
We need to have subsidies and
scholarships through Federation and
private donors for our preschoolers
and their families.
We, as Jews, are optimistic about the
continuation of Judaism We continue
to nurture programs for the families
and young children. We have excellent
Jewish preschools in the Detroit area.
Congregation Beth Shalom is starting
one of the first bilingual preschools in
our community this fall.
Families of intermarriage and
single parents are asking for a Jewish
education. They want to learn prayers,
Shabbat and Torah. They are involved
when their children are young.
Families want to participate in
Jewish programs with their children.
Yet as a community we are discourag-
ing their participation.
I am hoping some angels will read
this letter and start a scholarship for
early Jewish education and realize the
