Menthe Front Lines This Week F RCP Springtime Spruce-Up Young Activist Sarah Lerman-Sinkoff, 15, of West Bloomfield is planning on joining the April 30 rally in Washington, D.C., against the genocide in Darfur. A member of Habonim Dror, a socialist Zionist youth move- ment, Sarah is an experienced social activist who also attended ° the Washington rally in support of Israel in 2002. She says her parents, Drs. Ruth Lerman and Mark Sinkoff, instilled activism in her and her brother, Dov, who is on a Habonim program in Israel. She attended an informational meeting about the situation in Darfur on Sunday at the Jewish Community Center in Oak Park with her father. She was among only a few young people there. "I think it's important — we as Jews have a responsibility to aid suffering people; we as people have a responsibility," she said. 'Dog Wizard' On TV Vladae Roytapel of Troy, a respected dog trainer in the former Soviet.Union, has established a reputation here as the "Dog Wizard;' the man who turns even the most troublesome dogs into obedient household pets. Despite his heavy Russian accent, when Roytapel speaks, dogs certainly listen. Humans, too, learn his tricks of the trade. "If you treat your dog as ehuman, your dog will treat you as a doe he says. Now, Roytapel will work his magic on weekly segments on FOX2 News at a a.m. on Wednesdays. The program, called Dog Wizard, will discuss the health and behavior of household dogs. On the show, the charismatic Roytapel will tackle tough cus- tomers — dogs that rule the roost and are likely to be ousted by their families if they don't shape up. Maybe your dog qualifies?
