Learn Together
An infotmational reception, "Hand
In Hand: Israeli Arab and Jewish
Children Learning Together:' will be
held Tuesday, April 25, at lvlediterrano,
2900 S. State St., Ann Arbor, beginning
at 7 p.m.
Hand in Hand: The Center for
Jewish-Arab Education in Israel oper-
ates three bilingual, multicultural pub-
lic schools in Israel. The organization
seeks to foster community and coexis-
tence between Israel's Jews and Arabs.
Presenters will include Lee Gordon,
co-founder and U.S. representative for
Hand In Hand, as well as Kasim Abu
Raia and Eldad Garfunkel, Arab and
Jewish parents, from Hand in Hand's
Galilee school.

MSU Hillel Honorees
The Lester J. Morris Hillel Jewish
Student Center at Michigan State
University will hold its inaugural trib-
ute dinner, "Inspiring Future Jewish
Leaders," Wednesday, April 26, at
Tam O'Shanter Country Club in West
Bloomfield.
MSU Hillel will honor Alan Jay and
Sue Ellen Kaufman of Bloomfield Hills
for their leadership and commitment
to Jewish life on campus.
Alan Kaufman, a lawyer and busi-
ness leader,
is founding
member of the
Farmington
Hills law firm
of Kaufman,
Payton and
Chapa and
serves as
chairman and
The Kaufmans
president of the
H.W. Kaufman
Financial Group. He is a board mem-
ber of Walsh College in Troy, Jewish

Author Slates Lecture

Dr. Deborah Dash Moore, director of
the newly established Frankel Institute
for Advanced Judaic Studies at the
University of Mithigan, will give
a talk Sunday, April 23, sponsored
by the Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan and the Institute of Retired
Professionals.
•"GI Jews: How World War II
Changed a Generation,". the 'subject
of Dr. Moore's
most recent
book, will,be
her focus for
this lecture. The
book examines
the impact of
military ser-
vice during
World War II
Moore
on American
Jews, looking
specifically at 15 Jewish men and their
search for identities as Americans,
Jews and soldiers.
Moore is a graduate of Brandeis
University and Columbia University
and is known for her work on 20th
century American Jewish history, espe-
cially issues of ethnicity, community,
migration, leadership and identity.
The program at noon will be . held
at the West Bloomfield Library, 4600
Walnut Lake Road. Participants can
enjoy a light brunch and a chance to
meet Dr. Moore. The free program

Divorce Support
The National Council of Jewish
Women/Space for Changing Families
will hold registration for a divorce
support group to begin Monday, April
17, 7-9 p.m. at the NCJW office, 26400
Lahser, Suite 306, Southfield.
The six-week group will be led by
a trained facilitator. The fee is $5 per
session. This is not a dropin group; it
is necessary to attend all meetings.
