They became good friends that first summer but it wasn't until the next summer, serving as counselors, that "we realized that we had a definite connection," Lindsay said. They spent four summers together working as counselors. When both were 17, they started seriously dating, although it began as a long-distance rela- tionship. Lindsay was attend- ing the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and Dan was at Concordia University in Montreal. They took turns traveling back and forth by car, train or plane every four to six weeks. Two years ago, Dan accepted a job transfer to Chicago, where • Lindsay was already working. name is derived from his pater- nal great-grandfather Zilman Abrams.
