As a practicing coach in the Michigan
area, I was disappointed and taken
aback by the article "Listen To Your
Coach" (March 30, page 39). The arti-
cle was very narrow in scope.
The most prominent point that I
dispute is the notion that coaches
should have a background in psycho-
therapy. The truth is that people with
this background often have the most
trouble as coaches, because of the
different ways coaches and psycho-
therapists approach a client and the
difficulties in changing that approach.
If you would like to really learn
about coaching, I suggest the
International Coach Federation, the
largest certifying body of coaches
worldwide, or. Coach U, an ICF-accred-
ited coach training program, whith is
the largest in the United States. I think
you'll find the information you receive
is well-rounded and paints a clearer
picture of coaching today.

Make A Difference

What a fabulous article addressing our
community's efforts to come to the
aid of those in need ("Let All Who Are
Hungry Come And Eat," April 6, page
30).
Your piece was well-researched
and written. It served as a wonderful
example of how even one person can
make a difference by joining others
to embrace a cause. Our community
should be proud of the level of sup-
port, commitment and collabdration it
engages in.
Thank you for all of your efforts on
our behalf?

Rally For Darfur

Thank you for your coverage of the
• Detroit 2 Darfur Coalition, our Jewish
community's response to the genocide
in Darfur ("Taking Stock Of Darfur,"
March 23, page 5; "Jews Respond To
Darfur Genocide," March 30, page 25).
'Among the participating organiza-
tions, the Anti-Defamation League
Michigan Region deserves special
recognition for creating the marketing
materials that are being used to mobi-
lize our community.
The list of coalition members con-
tinues to grow and includes the JeWish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, the
Holocaust Memorial Center, American
Jewish World Service Detroit,
American ORT Detroit Chapter and
Women's American ORT Michigan.
