Glaser, who made a documentary about Hudson's before the downtown store was torn down, has thrown his attention to the ballpark before its planned demolition and has just com- pleted a documentary about the long- time home of Detroit baseball. Stranded at the Corner, which includes interviews and archival foot- age, debuts 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, at the Gem Theatre. Baseball professionals, potential investors and fans give their points of view with comic relief provided by Thorn Sharp. Amid the commentary is information to provide a sense of sta- dium history and point out the condi- tion it is in today. "I really did not want this film to be simply nostalgic," says Glaser, 55, who grew up in Detroit. "Instead, I wanted people to have the full sense of the issues involved in trying to save it." Joining former Tiger Willie Horton to add their comments to the debate are Basil (Mickey) Briggs, a member of the family that remains part of the backdrop of ballpark history; Benny Napoleon, former Detroit police chief; and Harry Glanz, co-founder of Capital Mortgage Funding in Southfield. "I don't have a good record of sav- ing sites with documentaries, but I think the film has galvanized people Show ID - cost of meal should be over $15 I Minimum 6 Persons! Glaser, who also makes industrial videos, has lived in Kalamazoo for the past three years while working as a digital video instructor. He attended Henry Ford High School and Temple Beth El before graduating from Oakland University in 1974. After working as a stage manager in local TV, he moved to Los Angeles to work as a stage manager on net- work and syndicated shows, including Jeopardy!. He won an Emmy for his documentary Justiceville, which is about the homeless. Glaser returned to Michigan in 1993, became a producer at WTVS-Channel 56 and moved on to work on films addressing local concerns. "We maintain an e-mail forum on the Web site about Stranded at the Corner," Glaser says. "Some of the n-iost passionate comments came from a former Detroiter now living in Scotland. He wrote how badly he felt about the planned loss of the sta- dium."
