Young "space travelers" learn about good manners at Temple Israel. Keri Guten Cohen Story Development Editor S tudents in Temple Israel's Pre-K and Kindergarten classes did some space " travel March 26 to Planet Derech Eretz (Good Manners). "Children learn best by using their. imaginations and so I thought space travel would be a fun, interactive way to teach the Jewish value of good manners:' says Amy Appelman, direc- tor of family education. - Nearly 100 children and their par- ents attended the program, which had the children blasting off to the new planet, where they went from station to station to learn about good man- ners. A real space lift-off was simulat- ed through video footage of an Apollo 11 mission and families were able to visit an inflatable planetarium where they toured the world beyond planet Earth — all provided by the Detroit Science Center. - Families also read a Jewish story and discussed what happens when there are no" rules. Additionally, they made a billboard ad to be displayed on Planet Derech Eretz so all could remember to follow important rules. And they learned new songs with DJ Cosmos at the local radio station — FM Derech Eretz. 1103200 JASON COHEN - COMPUTER SERVICES IN-NOME SERVICES INCLUDE • • Upgrades and Repairs Set-up and Installation Personalized Computer Training Computer Purchase Consulting Maintenance and Troubleshooting • Networking Reliable, Friendly Service!
