Clean your cupboards for Passover and bring your
non-perishable food items to fill our truck and...

teering. The learn-a-thon seemed
like a positive way to get students
involved to learn more about the
issue as well as provide more
opportunities for learning outside
of the regular day"

What did you learn dur-
ing the learn-a-thon?

"I went to hear a woman who is a
mesurevet get (woman unable to
obtain a divorce) speak about her
situation. J heard a lecture from
a prominent Conservative rabbi
about the current decision being
made regarding the ordination
of homosexuals. I studied textual
sources about women and head
covering. Pardes also organized
classes throughout the week, largely
to study about Passover."

What do you feel your
work will accomplish?

"This problem is also largely about
the rabbinical courts in Israel that
allow, and sometimes even pro-
this abusive behavior from
husbands. Halachic ways to solve
this problem are very rarely used.
I feel a sense of satisfaction know-
ing that I am contributing to help
these Jewish women and I hope
raising awareness of this issue will
impact the legal system through
which these Matters are managed
and decided." ❑
