After serving in Europe in World War II, he graduated as an Optometrist from Columbia University in New York in 1950. He held both New York and Michigan optometry licenses and practiced for 50 years. An educator as well, he retired in 1986 as chairman of the Ophthalmic Dispensing Department at New York City Technical College in Brooklyn. He is survived by his children, Dr. Harold and Hedy Schiff of West Bloomfield, Dr. Martin and Kathleen Schiff of Stone Ridge, N.Y.; grand- children Jonathan of West Bloomfield, Benjamin and Rachel of Stone Ridge.
