project to Michigan.
I was hired by
Spielberg to train
other interviewers,
and I interviewed
over 60 Holocaust sur-
vivors myself. That was
all volunteer, and it
took an enormous
amount of time over
several years.
But sitting across from
those survivors, having
them telling me their sto-
ries for historical archives,
that was the most meaning-
ful, because it was going to
be the longest lasting. The
stories wouldn't die with
them.
People told me things they'd
never told their children, their
spouses; they'd never told
another soul. Those were
tremendously meaningful days.

Is there a difference in feeling
when working with charitable
causes?

I'm just a big believer in good work
and good works. I think they go
hand in hand. It was a big corner-
stone in our early days of produc-
tion, particularly in the Jewish
community. To be able to combine
the talents and crafts of television
production and story telling, and to
be able to do that for organizations
where we can help them to raise
money and raise awareness, that's
tremendous.
I consider myself very lucky to
be able to do that. And hopefully
make an impact along the way and
help organizations to get their word
out to the community as well as
raise money. We've been a part of a
lot of capital campaigns. It's very
exciting when we're able to help an
organization that we care about
and respect.
