Sorkin Rides High
The recent cancellation of The
West Wing on NBC really hasn't
hurt the reputation of Aaron
Sorkin, who created, produced
and often wrote the show. He was
forced out several years ago when
ratings dipped, but the team
brought in to replace him didn't do
any better.
NBC is all giddy about his new
series, Studio 7, a behind-the-
scenes look at a Saturday Night

Live-type show. It will begin next
fall.
Sorkin created Studio 7 with
multiple Emmy-winning director
Thomas Schlamme, who was
forced out of West Wing with
Sorkin. The duo scored a coup
when they signed Matthew Perry
of Friends fame to star.
Co-starring with Perry is the
handsome Jewish actor Steven
Weber, best known for playing the
younger of the two pilots in the hit
1990s TV
series
Wings.
Weber
is much
more
multidi-
mension-
al than he
seemed
on Wings.
He has
written a
Steven Weber
couple of
well-
received movies for HBO and got
good reviews when he appeared in
The Producers on Broadway.
