"I got my
life back!"

Answering
Israel's
Critics

The Charge:

"I was lonely at home; there would be
days I wouldn't get dressed until late in
the afternoon. Then one day I realized
that I needed a change. That's why I
moved to The Park at Trowbridge...
and I got my life back! Many of my
friends lived here and I didn't even
know it, plus I've made so many
new friendships too. You'll never be
lonely because there are so many
things to do-musical entertainment,
art classes,. trips-there's something for
everyone. I've never had it so good."

Israel must recognize Hamas
as legitimate and negotiate
with Hamas leaders because
they are the democratically
elected leadership of the
Palestinians.

The Answer:

Hamas declines to recognize
Israel and is sworn to terror-
ism. The Palestinians' demo-
cratic elections can truly be
legitimate only when they are
accompanied by the establish-
ment of an independent judi-
ciary, a free press, institutions
that support civil society and
respect for the rule of law —
and when Hamas pursues
respectful and peaceful inter-
national relations.

Tehran/JTA — Iran's biggest newspa-
per requested cartoon submissions
that question the Holocaust. The
Hamshahri daily announced the con-
test Monday, calling it a response to
the publication by European newspa-
pers of cartoons satirizing Islam's
prophet, Mohammed.
"The Western papers printed these
sacrilegious carfoons on the pretext
of freedom of expression, so let's see
if they mean what they say and also
print these Holocaust cartoons,"
graphics editor Farid Mortazavi said.
Hamshahri is offering gold coins to
the best 12 entries.
An Islamic Web site in Europe post-
ed anti-Semitic political cartoons in
response to the Mohammed cartoon
controversy raging in Europe. The
cartoons were posted on the Arab
European League Web site,
arabeuropean.org. Two cartoons
found Sunday on the site denied the
Holocaust.
In another reaction to the
cartoon controversy, hundreds of
Palestinians burned Danish and
German flags and stormed buildings
belonging toEuropean institutions in
the Gaza Strip.
