ArtsFest Tryouts
Tryouts for the new JCC Maccabi
ArtsFest program will be held Feb.
14-15 at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield.
The program adds an arts com-
ponent to the JCC Maccabi Games
for Jewish teens ages 13-16 as of
July 31, 2006.
The ArtsFest will be held in
Baltimore Aug. 20-25 and 500 teens
are expected from North America,
Israel and Russia.
ArtsFest will include seven disci-
plines: digital video, musical the-
ater, instrumental music, star
reporting, techies, visual arts and
vocal music.
Participants will work with
artists-in-residence from all over
the country. There will be work-
shops, collaboration with other
teens and artists-in-residence
towards a final showcase, opening
and closing events, evening activi-
ties, and Days of Caring and
Sharing.
A meeting for parents and teens
interested in star reporting, tech,
digital video, photography and
visual arts will be held 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 14. Auditions will fol-
low, from 7-9 p.m.
On Wednesday, the same sched-
ule will be followed for parents and
teens interested in voice and musi-
cal theater, and instrumental music.

Round-trip bus transportation
will leave the Jewish Community
Center in Oak Park at 1 p.m. and
JCC in West Bloomfield at 1:30 p.m.
Cost of the event is $16 for mem-
bers, $20 for first-time guests.
