MARVIN ADLER, 85, former
Detroiter of Tamarac, Fla., died
Jan. 4, 2006. He was born in Jersey
City, N.J., the third of four sons of
Abraham and Esther Grund Adler.
He fought in the Army/Air Corps
during World War II, flew combat
missions over Italy, was shot down
and came home. A graduate of the
school of commerce at New York
University, Mr. Adler went on to a
successful career as a financial
executive in the retail clothing
business in Detroit for 40 years,
most of it spent at Winkleman
Bros. -
He was a dancer and athlete; he
loved handball and bowling as a
young man, and dikovered golf in
middle-age. He was an avid card
player his whole life, with a partic-
ular passion for poker, pinochle,
bridge and cribbage.
He retired to south Florida in
1987. In recent years, he worked
during the tax season as a tax pre-
parer.

Mt Adler is survived by Esther
Adler, his wife of nearly 57 years;
brothers, Seymour Adler of
Princeton, N.J., Leonard Adler of
Washington Township, N.J.; chil-
dren, Bill Adler of New York City,
Barry Adler of Tamarac, Rick Adler
of Winnetka, Ill., Janis Adler of
Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Ruth
Adler, Sam Adler, Rachel Adler,
Jesse Adler, Casey Adler, Michael
Adler, Eileen Deming and Michael
Deming.
A memorial service was held at
the Menorah Gardens and Chapel
in West Palm Beach. Contributions
may be made to the Juvenile
Diabetes Foundation or the
American Heart Association.

BURTON A. BRONSTEIN, 65, of
Oak Park, died Jan. 9, 2006.
He is survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Michael and Irene
Bronstein of Torrance, Calif.;
cousins, NOrton Cohen, Janice
Sobel, Lorraine Solomon and
Marcie Goldstein. He was the dear
son of the late Harold and the late
Sarah Bronstein.
Interment at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park Cemetery.

MEYER CHUDNOW, 75, of West
Bloomfield, died Jan. 14, 2006.

JOSEPH COHEN, 87, of West
Bloomfield, died Jan, 12, 2006.

LEIBISH DIOGENES,91, of West
Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Oak
Park, died Jan.
5, 2006. He was
born in Lipno,
Poland, in 1914
and served in
the Polish army
before his six
years spent in a
series of work
camps and concentration camps.
During the war, he
lost his first wife and
daughter. He met his
second wife, Hilda,
after the war, and his
daughter Cynthia
was born in
Germany before his
family emigrated to the United
States. After Miriam and Marvin
were born, he settled the family in
Oak Park, where he worked for
many years as a barber.
Mr. Diogenes was a strong sup-
porter of Israel, as well as a sup-
porter of Jewish education in Oak
Park, Ann Arbor and West Palm
Beach, where he provided an
annual scholarship for a student in
need at the Meyer Jewish Academy.
He also founded the Diogenes
Family Holocaust Library, current-
ly housed at the Meyer Academy.

Mr. Diogenes is survived by his
wife, Hilda Diogenes; daughters
and son-in-law, Cynthia and
Richard Frey of Oak Park, Miriam
Diogenes of Southfield; son,
Marvin Diogenes of Mountain
View, Calif.; grandchildren, Robert
Frey, Rachel Frey.
