Li Dear
Bar ten,
you recom-
mend nutri-
tional counsel-
ing/coaching.
What is nutritional counseling and
what advantages, if any, does it
have over just reading a diet book
or locating nutrition and dietary
information on the internet?
Thanks, Beth.

nswer: Dear Beth, As a
Registered Dietitian under
the American Dietetic
Association (ADA) and Licensed
Dietitian/Nutritionist in Florida
(not offered in Michigan), who
regularly counsels clients about
their nutrition and dietary behav-
ior, naturally, I have more than a
passing interest in the subject.

A GENERAL

//, Unlike a generic diet
book or internet site, I
am able to use that back-
ground, my experience,
and first-hand client observation/
interaction, together with vari-
ous professional evaluation tools,
to determine the best course of
action for a particular client. But.
that's just the beginning – a good
counselor/coach not only supports,
but, indeed, partners with the cli-
ent – in order to ensure the greatest
likelihood of long-term success:
