The dark comedy, which spotlights a
Jewish detective hunting an actor

turned serial killer, introduces the
detective's mother with habits of both
relatives, and Meadow Brook Theatre
audiences will see it all Jan. 4-29.
Cohen got the idea for the musical
while watching the film of the same
name based on a William Goldman
novel. The score came to him as he
became engrossed in writing the plot
and dialogue for the stage; his version
also provides a romantic interest for
the detective.
