Night Out
Belly dancing
and Israeli
karaoke set the
mood.
n Saturday night, Dec. 24, Skewers International
Grill offered Jews Israeli cuisine with touches of
Russian and European accents.
The occasion was another of the West Bloomfield restau-
rant's monthly special Israeli nights. Previous Israeli nights
have included live music from Israel and Michigan. This
night featured belly dancing at 9:30 p.m., led by a profes-
sional belly dancer who got people dancing, followed by
Israeli karaoke.
The restaurant was filled to capacity with about 50
patrons of varying ages and nationalities. Most enjoyed
some dinner beforehand, while some splurged on Turkish
coffee and baklava. afterward — or special Israeli juices
called Meetz and Jump.
Israeli music and karaoke are staples of Saturday nights,
starting at 9 p.m.
Skewers is co-owned by Israeli chef Moshe Shalmiev of
West Bloomfield and Jeremy Kahn of Farmington Hills. ❑
