Sen. Clinton: "It is now up to

the Palestinians."

fronts for armed terrorists, and that
would be one of the big tests that
Abbas would have to confront:' she
said.

Future President?
Hillary Clinton, who many think
will run for president in the future,
addressed the notion of a country
ready for a woman president.
"Well, Hollywood seems to think
so," she answered to laughter. "I
hope to find out in my lifetime."
The crowd was given an intima-
tion of how a "Hillary for
President" campaign would be run
when she spoke of the lessons
learned by Democrats in 2004.
"The way to win a campaign is
by running a tough, vigorous,
aggressive campaign; and when
someone attacks you, you deck
them:' she said. "If someone is put-
ting out misleading, inaccurate
information about you, you have to
respond."
The private event was sponsored
by MOPAC, a local Jewish
Democratic political action com-
mittee founded in 1986.
Stephanie Jacobson of
Birmingham said Clinton will run
for president, but her success
depends on the competition.
"We still need to learn more
about where she stands on certain
issues to know what her chances
are; but she certainly has the brand
awareness she needs:' said
Jacobson, a marketing professional.
"It's not like a stranger is coming
on board."
Is the country ready for a woman
president?
"I'd like to think so," she said.
"She's a force said Brian
Satovsky of Birmingham.
"I truly won't be shocked if
she's president in my lifetime." ❑
