Ralph W. Babb Jr., right, chair and CEO of Detroit-based Comerica
Inc.,was presented with the B'nai B'rith International's Great
Traditions Award at an Oct. 20 dinner in his honor at the Inn at St.
John's in Plymouth. The award was in recognition of his civic con-
cern, philanthropic leadership and commitment to diversity
Shown are Peter Perlman, dinner chair, and Babb. Mark Soltz was
Tribute Journal chair. The B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region, under
President Stephen Zorn, hosted the event.

Jillian, 8, and Andrew, 12, Gordner of Franklin, top, were at the Max
M. Fisher Building in Bloomfield Township Dec. 11, picking up
items to be used on their trip to Israel. They are part of the more
than 700 community members participating in the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit's Family Miracle Mission at the
end of December. Tables full of travel items were ayailable;ranging
from maps of Israel to luggage tags, tote bags and T-shirts.
There also was a light blue sweatshirt designed by Dana Benyas,
13, of Huntington Woods, above, who will be going on the mission
with her extended family Her winning design, which she is wear-
ing, will earn her 400 shekels to spend in Israel. The community's
first family mission is co-sponsored by the Jewish News and the
Michigan Board of Rabbis.
