oncerned about Israelis
needing warm winter cloth-
ing, members of the Sara
Tugman Bais Chabad Torah Center
in West Bloomfield are collecting
donations that will be shipped to
Israel. •
"There were many who were
expelled from the homes in Gush
Katif [settlements in the Gaza Strip]
and are in need of clothing as the
winter season approaches:' said
Torah Center Rabbi Elimelech
Silberberg. "They were moved to a
colder climate than where they had
been and do not have the appropri-
ate clothing. In addition, there are
others in Israel who will benefit
from these donations!'
Needed items include gently worn,
clean winter coats, jackets, sweaters,
hats, gloves, pants, skirts and shirts.
Shoes, socks and undergarments
also are requested, but must be new.
Also accepted will be small games,
new stuffed animals, coloring books
and crayons for Israeli children.

The Torah Center is the local
donation point for the clothing
drive, which is spearheaded by the
National Council of Young Israel in
New York.
•The cutoffpoint for contributions •
is Tuesday, Dec. 20, "so we can ship
them before Chanukah," Rabbi
.
Silberberg said.
"We also are in need .of volunteers
to help sort and pack the clothing
before it is shipped,;' said Rae
Sharfman of West Bloomfield, local
organizer of the project.
The donation container will be
available 9 a.m.-noon and 5-9 p.m.
Sundays-Thursdays and 9 a.m.-noon
Fridays.
For information or to volunteer to
help sort and pack the donated
items, call Rae Sharfman at (248)
851-6032 or the Torah Center at
(248) 855-6170.
To make a monetary donation to
help cover the cost of shipping
donated items, send a check to the
