Jim said his father's legacy will be not just his wealth, but his generous heart. In the business world, Mr. Hiller's legacy was to create an entire *generation of supermarket managers who learned the craft under him. When Mr. Hiller retired in 1989, his son took over. Mr. Hiller made frequent visits to his stores, enjoying the con- tact with employees and cus- tomers. He visited one of the stores just a week before his death. "He beamed like a 30- . year-old and lit up," Jim said. In his later years, Mr. Hiller became a devoted grandfa- ther to his five grandchildren.
