Readymade dinner is a
great gift. If you're one of

those people fortunate enough to
have a large freezer, you may have
goodies someone will love.
Working moms and dads are con-
stantly challenged by the ques-
tion, "What's for dinner?"
Readymade dinner is a great gift.
Maybe you have a lasagna, a bag
of peas and some garlic bread,
along with a bottle of wine. Place
in a basket and give "Dinner
When You Need It" to a friend.
The nice thing about this is that
it looks like a present into which
you put a lot of thought (you
cooked it days ago, of course,
thinking of your friend's birth-
day). It also will be greatly appre-
ciated, because it can go into
someone else's freezer, then be
taken out on a busy night. And
everybody loves an instant, home-
made dinner.

• Give your partner a paid
day off. Go to your computer

and print out this nice message:

"Next Sunday is yours. Get up,
shower, eat and GO! I'll watch
the kids, clean up the house, do
all the chores. Here is $50 to help
you enjoy the day. Don't come
back until it's night!"

• Let your beloved pick
out the present of her
choice. This will take a bit of

planning so it doesn't sound like
exactly what it is — a last-minute
gift. But you can do it. First,
think of your wife's favorite store.
Now create an "open gift certifi-
cate" and either draw something
(this shows you've put a little
"planning" into this) or design on
the computer. Now write a note
and tell your wife something
along the lines of, "You mean the
world to me. We're off to
Tapper's [in the Orchard Mall in
West Bloomfield] tomorrow at
noon" (this, again, suggests you
actually put some thought into
the gift) "and I want you to pick
the necklace of your dreams, and
let me pay. I love you, dear."
Trust me, it will work.
