Here's Your Chance

We want to feature a photograph each
week to accompany this Synagogue
List. Your congregations are busy
doing special things all the time. This
is a great place to showcase them.
We're looking for candid photographs
featuring action - nothing posed.
Please submit photos to us for consid-
eration. We will share the wealth and
rotate among the congregations.
We prefer digital images sent by
e-mail. High resolution. High quality.
Timely. Not too many people. Full iden-
tification - name and city as well as
the ages of children. With your photos,
send information about the event -
what, who, when, where and why.
Include a contact and daytime phone
number.
Send it all to Sy Manello at
smanello©thejewishnews.com or call
(248) 351-5147. That's all there is to it"

Giving Tzedakah

If someone asks for food, we
must believe he needs it and

provide it. If someone asks for
clothing, we may ascertain

whether it is really needed

before providing it.

Presented by Lubavitch
Women's Organization.
For information on keeping
kosher or lighting Shabbat
candles, contact Miriam
Amzalak, (248) 548-6771,
miriamamzalak®junu.com.

To help consolidate lifecycle list-

ings in one location, we've moved
all b'nai mitzvah announcements

to the Mazel Tovl Section.

Interfaith
Thanksgiving

Temple Kol Ami in West
Bloomfield hosted the 19th
annual Interfaith
Thanksgiving Celebration,
sponsored by the major
faith communities of
Metropolitan Detroit. About
200 people braved the first
snowfall of the season for a wonderful evening of celebration. Kol Ami's
Rabbi Norman T. Roman opened the service, which included the sounding
of the shofar, the Muslim call to worship, the Beatitudes of Jesus and the
Native AmericOn cleansing and blessing rite conducted by Elder Jerry
Cleland of the Ojibwa Tribe, right. A highlight of the service came when
attendees exchanged name tags, with a promise to pray for that person
throughout the coming year The evening ended with a celebration of tra-
ditional Jewish foods, above.
