Congregation Beth Shalom will
feature certified yoga teacher
Suzy Ran at an alternative serv-
ice 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, that
combines Jewish meditation and
yoga asana (posture) practice.
The service begins with a
d'var Torah by Beth Shalom's
Center for Jewish Living instruc-
tor, Ronit Goutkovitch, followed
by a 20-minute meditation, and
45 minutes of yoga.
Participants should wear com,
fortable clothing that allows for
laying on the floor. Participants

will join the congregation for the
concluding Shabbat prayers.

Sisterhood Dinner

The sisterhoods of Adat Shalom
Synagogue and Congregation
Shaarey Zedek will hold their
18th annual Joint Dinner &
Program 6 p.m: Tuesday, Dec. 6,
at Adat Shalom.
The theme is "Empower
Yourself for Healthy Lifestyle
and a Healthy New Year."
Featured will be Dr. Maria Pacis-
Biederman, a cardiologist; Dr.
Suzanne Merkle, a dermatologist;
and Dr. Brenda Moskovitz, a
gynecologist.
The community is welcome.

Author To Visit

Jean Marzollo, an award-winning
author and illustrator of more
than 100 books for children,
including the best-selling I Spy
series, will visit Temple Israel as
well as other local sites Dec. 11-
14.
Temple Israel will host
Marzollo as part of its annual
book fair 9:45-11:30 a.m. Sunday,
Dec. 11; noon to 2 p.m. and 5:15-
6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, and 9:30-
11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday,
Dec. 14. During her interactive
slide show presentations for pre-
school to sixth-graders and
teachers, she will discuss the
research and writing process for
her new Bible story series
(Daniel in the Lions' Den, the
2004 Sydney Taylor Honor Award
Winner, Miriam and Her Brother
Moses, David and Goliath, Jonah
and the Whale and the Worm,
and Ruth and Naomi). She will
show the various styles of illus-
tration in her books, including
the intriguing I Spy photographs.
Marzollo will also visit Shalom
Street at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield on
Sunday afternoon, Dec. 11; Pine
Lake and Lone Pine elementary
schools in Bloomfield Hills on
Monday, Dec. 12; and Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills on Tuesday
morning, Dec. 13.
