Synagogues
Iris Mickels of Farmington Hills with her
granddaughter Savannah of West
Bloomfield get up close and personal with
a llama during a special Thanksgiving pro-
gram at Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak
Park on Nov. 13. Children and grown-ups
petted and hugged bunnies, ducks, deer
and even a turkey at this program organ-
ized by Susan Garkenberg, director of the
Gad Shalom Parenting Center. The families
created Thanksgiving crafts including pup-
pets and turkeys and a family wall hanging
displaying handprints of the children, par-
ents and grandparents.

Here's lour Chance!,
We want to feature a photograph each week to accompany this Synagogue List. Your congregations are busy doing special things all the time.
This is a great place to showcase them. We're looking for candid photographs featuring action — nothing posed. Please submit photos to us
for consideration. We will share the wealth and rotate among the congregations.
We prefer digital images sent by e-mail. High resolution, High quality. Timely. Not too many people. Full identification — name and city
as well as the ages of children. With your photos, send information about the event — what, who, when, where and why. Include a contact
and daytime phone number. Send it all to Sy Manello at smanello@thejewishnews.com or call (248) 351-5147. That's all there is to it!
