Mazel Tov! No Time Wasted Bernie Beigel finds his mate on their first date. Leonard Poger I Copy Editor It didn't take long for Bernie Beigel to know that the young woman he took on a blind date 60 years ago would be his wife. After he and Charlotte Schiff went to a movie and dinner in New York City, where they lived, he went home to tell his father, "I'm going to marry that girl:' That was in March 1945. Three weeks later, they were engaged and on Aug. 28, 1945, they mar- ried in a double ceremony with Charlotte's sister, Eva, and broth- er-in-law, Geri Wertheimer. The West Bloomfield couple, members of Temple Israel for 15 years, marked their 60th Nov. 17 Rabbi Jason and ElisSa Miller of Ann Arbor are grateful and delighted to announce the birth of their son, Jonah Gabriel (Yonah Gavriel) and daughter, Talya Arielle.
