Divas In Ann Arbor Several divas with Jewish connec- tions will grace the stage of the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor this weekend. When Cyndi Lauper performs 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, she'll be joined by two special guests —both Jewish: Sandra Bernhard and Jill Sobule. Flint-born Bernhard plans a set highlighting her talents as a comedian, actress and singer. A pop singer with a social con- science, Sobule ("I Kissed a Girl"), who often includes World War II references in her songs, could per- form "Attie,' in which she imag- ines hiding out as Anne Frank, asking, "Would you have hidden me in your attic?" Then, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, Carly Simon will perform songs from her extensive catalogue of original music, as well as some songs from her Top 10 release, Moonlight Serenade. Simon is the A Little Hit of New York Right Here in Bloomfield Hills Holiday Catering Jill Sobule daughter of Jewish publisher Richard Simon, a co-founder of Simon and Shuster. Opening for Simon will be her children with former husband- musician James Taylor. Ben Taylor and Sally Taylor each will perform individually, as well as with their mother during the concert.
