Honoring Our Veterans

The Congregation B'nai Moshe Men's Club held
a Kabbalat Shabbat service, program and din-
ner Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans' Day. Of the
111 who attended, 34 were U.S. veterans with
one each from Canada, Czechoslovakia and the
Israel.
After the service, several veterans shared
memories, including the daily life of a soldier;
how a Yiddish-speaking sergeant became com-
mander of a German POW work crew in France;
living as an American Jew in a German POW
camp; and guarding the border in Berlin as the
Berlin Wall was being built.
Veterans included seated, from left, Simon
Singer, Marvin Wecksteln, Jerry Schlussel
state commander), Sydney Goodman, Herman
Sherline and Allen Rosenfeld.
Standing, left to right, Seymour Ungar, an
unidentified veteran, Leonard Horwitz, Harmon
Iron, Bernie Gross, Harry Weberman, Frank
Blaze, Norman Sable, Max Garber, Jack Lampcov,
Nick Gorda, Hyman Fox, Marcel Thirman, Edward
Skuisky and Harold Michaels.
