Bluegrass

Appalachian and southern fid-
dle tunes by Bill Monroe meet
klezmer melodies from pre-war
Russia and Eastern Europe when
klezmer clarinetist Margot
Leverett, a founding member of
the Klezmatics
in 1985 before
moving on to
launch her solo
career, joins up
with the
Klezmer
Mountain Boys
— bassist
Marty Confuius, Margot Leverett and the
Klezmer Mountain Boys
guitarist Joe
Selly, fiddler
Kenny Kosek
and mandolinist Matt Sircely —
in a concert 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
3, at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek, 1924 Coolidge, in East
Lansing.
The group's self-titled CD was
released to rave reviews in 2002
and recently was selected for a
new piece, Klezmerbluegrass, by
the Paul Taylor Dance Company
that premiered in March 2005 in
the nation's capital.
